Keno was first played in two hundred BC by the Chinese army commander, Cheung Leung who utilized this game as a finance resource for his declining army. The city of Cheung was at war, and after a bit of time seemed to be facing country wide shortage of food with the excessive decrease in supplies. Cheung Leung had to come up with a fast response for the economic calamity and to acquire income for his military. He therefore created the game we know today as keno and it was a great success.

Keno was referred to as the White Pigeon Game, since the winning numbers were broadcast by pigeons from larger municipalities to the tinier towns. The lottery ‘Keno’ was imported to America in the 1800s by Chinese newcomers who migrated to the US to work. In those times, Keno used 120 numbers.

Today, Keno is typically played with eighty numbers in a majority of American land based casinos along with web casinos. Keno is largely enjoyed today because of the relaxed nature of betting the game and the simple fact that there are no expertise required to play Keno. Despite the reality that the odds of getting a win are horrible, there is constantly the chance that you might hit quite large with little gaming investment.

Keno is enjoyed with eighty numbers with 20 numbers selected each game. Players of Keno can choose from two to ten numbers and bet on them, whatever amount they are able to. The payout of Keno is dependent on the wagers made and the matching of numbers.

Keno has grown in universal appeal in the United States since the end of the 1800’s when the Chinese characters were replaced with more familiar, US numbers. Lotteries weren’t covered under the laws of wagering in the state of Nevada in 1931. The casinos adjusted the name of the ‘Chinese lottery’ to ‘horse race keno’ employing the concept that the numbers are horses and you want your horses to come in. When a law passed that levied a tax on off track betting, the casinos quickly changed the name to ‘Keno’.
