It may not usually be thought of as the most fun game in the universe of gaming, but keno has huge amounts of fanatical players. Why wouldn’t it? It’s a routinely entertaining lottery-type game that’s a breeze to learn, readily available in many different formats, and one that can return mega-dollars for players who learn its endless subtle nuances. But let’s start with the basic rules for now.

When describing keno to novices, some wagering experts compare it to lotto. This is at least to some extent correct, in that each game is fundamentally numerical. Yet to carry that comparison too far would be to misunderstand the endless unique aspect that make keno so entertaining. Unlike bingo, keno gamblers have the ability to choose the numbers for each and every card.

Keno cards have a grand total of eighty numbers, but the player is given an additional level of personal responsibility by being able to choose as numerous (or as few) numbers as he desires. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your handpicked numbers with a every day oldball point pen like you had when you were a kid.

After you have picked your numbers, take the keno card back to the person at the keno stand. The nice person will record your numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t lose this (potentially) lucrative bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers you and would like to help out, without a winning receipt in hand, you will win precisely $.00 for your efforts.

Ok, there you have strategy #1: always be sure to keep your keno ticket. Let’s advance to something a tiny bit more useful, shall we?

Now that you’ve picked your numbers, get yourself into a comfy keno booth and observe the action unfold on the monitor. This is where the winning numbers appear in lights. If you’ve got winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Be sure not to move to slowly, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You really want to get back to the keno stand to get your winnings, since a new drawing will certainly start within 5 minutes.

Strategy number two: always make it back to the keno booth on time!

Assuming you can not trust yourself to beat that 5 minute deadline each time, you always have the option of buying a "multi-race" card. These include the same set of your desired numbers on anywhere from two to twenty tickets. When the max amount of games (fitting the amount of tickets) is played, you are then able to get off your numb butt and go redeem your winnings.

Yet another choice is recognized as a "stray and play" keno card, which usually allows you make number picks for thirty rounds or more. Gosh, you can take vacation to Greece and not have to worry about getting back in time to collect your numbers. Most "stray and play" cards are good for up to a whole year after you purchase it!

So now you have learned several essential schemes for winning keno. If you are a good gambler, they may appear to be stupidly obvious. Still, it will not hurt to bone up on the fundamentals, and if you are a newbie user, every bit of direction will help make your keno playing more fun.
